Susan Gerace Mossey  Director

Born and raised in Plattsburgh NY, Susan began her dance training at the age of two, studying  tap, ballet, jazz and gymnastics for over fifteen years.  After high school, she earned her bachelor's degree in English and Fine Arts from Manhattan University, while continuing her dance education for five years at the Broadway Dance Center and Bronx Dance Theatre in New York City. In 1995, Susan joined her mother Nancy at the family's dance studio, where she taught preschool, tap, ballet, jazz & gymnastics, and introduced the North Country to its first hip-hop dance program.  In 2005, she expanded NLSD by opening a second location within the Ameri-Can North Sports Center. Steady growth led to the opening of a new facility on Riley Avenue in 2012. Due to overwhelming demand, the space was further expanded in 2018 into a beautiful 4,200 sq. ft. facility housing two studios. Susan's award-winning competition teams have earned top honors at both regional and national levels. Her innovative choreography and creative vision continue to make her classes among the most sought-after in the area. 

Kyra Mossey   Instructor

Born and raised in Plattsburgh, Kyra has literally grown up in a dance studio.  With both her grandmother and mother dedicating their lives to dance instruction, she is proud to continue the family tradition. She began dancing at the age of two and performed her first solo at just three years old.  Kyra has trained extensively in tap, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, gymnastics and Acro dance. She graduated  Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Plattsburgh in December 2019. She has trained at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She began as a teacher's assistant to both Nancy and Susan and has now been an instructor at NLSD for over eight years. Her leadership in Acro dance has led to an explosion of talent at the studio. Her Acro students, especially at younger ages, consistently display gymnastic ability that outpaces regional norms. Kyra's competition dance teams continue to win top honors. Kyra is deeply committed to the art of dance instruction and is proud to carry forward the legacy of excellence at NLSD.

Ruth Baker  Preschool Teacher's Assistant

Ruth Baker grew up in Plattsburgh, and graduated from Plattsburgh State in May 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Human Development Family Relations with a concentration in Child Care Management.  She is the owner/operator of Ruthie's Place Day Care in Plattsburgh.  Ruth has been a NLSD dancer for 27 years.  She takes great care in working with our preschool  dancers, as well as continuing her own dance education.
